EL CHICO PALO EN BUCERÍAS
Spent an OTC long weekend down in Mexico around Bucerías, Sayulita, and Compostela on some super rad and ripping rides with Kempton Baker of Cortado Adventures. We had four days on the bikes and covered it all from highways to village roads, dirt trails, gravel, canal crossings, and an ancient cobblestone path over the mountains through a jungle. The people, the food, and the VIBES were flowing.
Since I didn’t have the bandwidth to pack my own bike for the trip, I was super stoked to rent one from Bici Bucerías. It was at least my size, and had 34mm all-road tires and I literally flung it up and down the mountains over everything in front of me. A true underbiked experience, and it was just what I needed. Felt like I found that thing again that makes us do what we do. Seek. Ride. Vibe.
And of course, the food situation was brain busting. From ultra fresh street food to mega high-end bistro fare and every smoothie, cookie, and coffee in between, this region brings the heat. Literally, and that too. As we all know, this begins the real “fun time” in the PNW with rain, darkness and that chill, bro. So, it was so nice to soak it up, get in with the local community, and share the flavors of the valley, mountains, and sea.
Stay tuned for the return trip in late February and next level, ultra version in October. See trip video recap on my Instagram, check out Cortado Adventures, and the fine folks at Bici Bucerías for more information. Pro Tip: ask for Pepe, and hit his Food Tour. Bro, you already know it’s fire AF.
